Designing Split-Screen Canvas Layouts

Use the canvas layout editor to create multi-zone screen layouts that display different content simultaneously.

1

Open the layout editor

Navigate to "Layouts" in the sidebar and click "New Layout". This opens the drag-and-drop canvas editor where you can design your screen layout.

2

Define your zones

Click and drag to create zones on the canvas. Each zone is a region of the screen that can display its own content. Common layouts include a main area with a sidebar, or a grid of equal sections.

Start with a simple two-zone layout (main content + sidebar) before creating more complex designs. You can always add zones later.

3

Resize and position zones

Drag the edges of zones to resize them. Use the alignment tools to snap zones to edges or center them. Ensure there are no gaps or overlaps between zones.

The editor shows alignment guides and distance indicators to help you position zones precisely. Green lines indicate center alignment, blue lines show edge alignment.

4

Assign content to each zone

Select a zone and assign a playlist or channel to it. Each zone operates independently, so you can have a video playlist in the main area and a weather app in the sidebar.

5

Save and apply

Give your layout a name and save it. Then go to your screen settings, select "Canvas Layout" as the display mode, and choose your saved layout. The screen will display all zones simultaneously.
