Using Channels for Multi-Zone Displays

Learn how to use channels to power multi-zone layouts, with each zone running its own scheduled content independently.

1

Create a canvas layout first

Before setting up multi-zone channels, you need a canvas layout with multiple zones. Create one in the layout editor or use a template.

Each zone in your layout can be assigned a different playlist or channel, giving you full flexibility.

2

Create a channel for each zone

For each zone that needs scheduled content, create a dedicated channel. Name them clearly — e.g., "Main Zone - Content Schedule" and "Sidebar Zone - Info Bar".

3

Set up schedules per zone

Configure each channel with its own schedule. The main zone might rotate through promotional playlists throughout the day, while the sidebar shows a static info playlist with clock and weather.

Not every zone needs a full schedule. For always-on content like clocks or logos, just set a default playlist without any time-based rules.

4

Assign channels to layout zones

Go to your screen settings, select your canvas layout, and assign the appropriate channel (or playlist) to each zone. Each zone operates independently.

5

Test and refine

Preview your setup to ensure all zones display correctly and transition smoothly. Check that scheduled content switches at the right times in each zone.

If a zone appears blank, make sure its assigned channel has a default playlist as a fallback.
